Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on a private visit to Russia.
Besides discussing politics, Berlusconi was shown the Beriyev Be-200 amphibious aircraft the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry uses for
putting down wildfires in Europe and other regions.

The government has pushed through a fiscal federalist reform (which the opposition even approved). The Italian pension system is the most stable in Europe because of the "scalone" pension reform. Berlusconi has done a lot for this country. It would behoove you to dig deeper rather than relying upon tidbits from AP.

You simply don't have an in-depth knowledge about Italian politics. It's not meant to be insulting, so forgive me if that's what it sounds. Unfortunately, the media is not kind to Berlusconi, but he has had several accomplishments: the debt and deficit are more under control than at any other government in recent memory. Fiscal evasion is down significantly. Unemployment under Berlusconi has come to historic lows (even with the crisis). (to be continued....)

@Reazzurro90 Dude I was surprised you disagreed. Italy is now in deep sh*t. when people got no jobs. what was he thinking, when he got all the Libyans fuels etc, now he supported the rebel. I must disagree on Berlusconi. Berlusconi has done a lot, put in a lot of reforms since coming into power. Italian politics are a cesspool. The Italian prime minister does not have the significant powers that a Russian president does, or even that of a British prime minister. Given the small deck he was handed, he has done superb. Italy has changed for the better with him.

@Reazzurro90 Putin is a very powerful and clever man, Russia was flat bloke , he managed to turn it around in such short of time if he goes for the next election, you will see the man. Berlusconi is playing like a fool as he wear a velvet gloves in an Iron fist. Well the America presidents are mostly stupid, such as George Bush, The America got everyone by the balls but the screwed up by using hard power instead of sort power. you can see the chinese is only using sort power.

I don't see Putin as trying to be a world conqueror. Berlusconi certainly isn't.

But the media often tries to portray popular, powerful leaders as much. I think at best we can say Putin likes to "manage" aspects of the government himself. But this whole suggestion that Putin might try to control the world I think is propaganda from the media. He's just interested in fixing his country. He hasn't been as trigger-happy as the last couple of American presidents have been.
