Here how the Oses compare in which is best Linux>Windows>OSX. Macs are not good imo, Linux and Windows both have the best hardware, and Windows has the second best software, with Linux topping it out since you can pretty much design your own crap. As for security you are right, Linux wins that for sure, it was last to go at the PWN TO OWN contest, with Visa second, and osx first to go.
