The Sacred Hoop (Medicine Wheel) symbolizes a life in balance. Lakota Elder Larry Salway explains that a life out of balance comes from a Sacred Hoop that has in some way been broken.

Larry Salway grew up on the Rosebud Reservation in southwestern South Dakota. He rose out of the poverty of his childhood and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and later, a professor at the Oglala Lakota College campuses in Kyle and Rapid City, SD. He served for five years as Tribal Judge in Pine Ridge, SD. Mr. Salway has also served as pastor of churches in Arizona and South Dakota. Larry is Co-President of Life Initiatives.

H.I.C.-india-2005 recommends "religious excess lands be TRANSFERRED to MOTHERS FARM COLLECTIVES"-so easy-hey churches could be turned into something USEFUL like longhouses for grandmothers sister clans & children- please ask your local religious leader why he doesnt want grandmothers to take over his building & land-READ FORESTS
