A Jamaican Commissioner's intolerance of Adventist accommodations to not take Detective Examinations on Saturdays stirs controversy and ignites other matters about the Sabbath (whether Adventists do policing on the sabbath, which they do) and makes news, as turbulently voiced in an tangent statement answer to a question in speech at a Police Conference on Thursday May 28th 2009 .
Here is what's being discussed/covered in the press since then, starting with the article in the Gleaner the very next day :

  • Sir Brukins, If a John Brown says he is not supposed to have grapefruit because of medication he's on, does it necessarily follow that John Brown can't eat oranges , tangerines or other Citrus and is discouraging folk from getting their Vitamin C ? NO.

Again, if Nurse Anna gets her medical examinations accommodated away from the Sabbath does that that necessarily mean Nurse Anna wants 2lock down all hospitals on Sabbath or does not work on the Sabbath? ? Did u read Herbert Thompson's letter?

  • If corruption is such a problem, the force should welcome people with unassailable principles!

  • Those whiny bible-thumping cops need to take it somewhere else.

Jamaica has one of the most corrupt, inept and whiny police force in the Western Hemisphere. Apparently been Christian and faithful Sabbath Keepers do not go hand in hand with preventing, solving crimes and protecting the human rights of Jamaicans.
