@jonkristoffersen, Nope, sorry, not unique. The Belgium Working Group Satellites (an amateur group) imaged both the Mir space station and the shuttle way back in 1991 and 1995.

@1sorryham They may have been unique at the time. I believe Legault started his ISS imaging project a couple of years after this was filmed. The work in Boston is done with professional equipment by professional astronomers, and should not be compared with the work done by amateurs with their own telescopes, done on their free time.

Unique in the world? Oh Baloney! Theirry Legault has been doing this for some time now (and doing it better). This kind of imaging has been done by a group at the Boston (US) Museum of Science Observatory since the mid 1990's including shots of the shuttle docked with the old Mir space station and shots of ISS under construction.

BBC is just so awesome! And hats off to anyone who looks for sats or space stations, I know I have a lot of fun camping with the chaps and chapettes and we always it seems come to the subject of sattelites in the evening, and guess who always brings his binoculars??? 8-]
