CPU issue with Battlefield3 on pc

computer specs:
I7 2600K @ 4.5ghz, speed step & c-state on. Hyperthreading OFF
8GB Corsair XMS3 @1600mhz
Single EVGA GTX 480gtx with latest 285.79 beta drivers
BF3 is loaded on a 500GB 7200RPM 32mb cahce WD HDD. OS is on a Corsair F120 (sandforce 1200) drive.

****** Console command for graph*********

press ~ then type Render.perfoverlayvisible 1 (1 is on 0 is off) when you change servers or change in-game settings (video, control binds you will have to re-input the commend. Yellow is CPU green is Graphics, higher the line, the longer that piece of hardware is taking to render. (in MS)

**note in video i forgot to say what the deferred AA was set to. it was set to OFF for the WHOLE. settings all on high besideds post aa which was set to medium and HBAO on

Forgive the quality of the video. shot with my iphone 4 propped up. if i used fraps or msi afterburner it would mess with the CPU cycles.

note that i've tried this with fraps, msi afterburner and origin overlay all off and i still have this issue.

Nvidia drivers are set to single display performance mode, and power management is set to prefer maximum performance.

Please spread this video around so a dev can see this issue and fix it.

Forgive my speech impediment. i know i can't talk right. this video is not here for you guys discuss about how i cant talk so please keep the comments on topic to the issue on hand.

  • DISABLE ORIGIN IN GAME...IT CAUSES THE LITTLE STUDDERING...SETTINGS IN ORIGIN...

  • @r3asons already have it disabled as well as cloud sync (cause it causing my kits not to be saved)

  • I did that press ~ then type Render.perfoverlayvisible 1 and seems that my cpu (intel core i7 920) is making stuttering because there is this long yellow lines so will it help if i just disable the hyper threading?

  • @lehmatlentaa20 send me a message of a picture of your graph i want to see how it looks compared to mine

turning off HT seemed to help for me a TAD but idk i think its a placebo effect ill turn it back on today and test it out and see what i get.

HT on all the time wont help day to day stuff anyway. only people that do allot of video editing and encoding will see a boast in performance. for me i just turn it off. it helps me get a cooler running cpu and lest wattage being used

  • LOL FAPS! :D

  • have you solved this problem??? its so damn annoying. have your game worked at all? i got this after latest patch

  • I couldn't understand all you said because of my bad english. So i have this kind of problem, i've got perfectly smooth frame rates on ultra settigns on 2600k and gtx560ti and when i run into new area, or move my mouse fast it freezes for a second and goes back on, it continues for the whole gaming session. How can i get rid of that? Tell me that in easily undesrtandable english :D

  • I have this issue, running at 40 to 50fps. I am playing this on my laptop which can handle arma 2 at high settings around 40fps and this game at medium around 40-50fps. I think its a combination of poor memory management, driver issues and poor optimization. My laptop is using an AMD HD 6750 and I have an i7 2820QM with 8gb of RAM

  • And i think u dont have so big problem, u are running bf3 nicely.
