February 2009 KMTP Reporter Melanie Reynard goes to Twiga Gallery in the Presidio Heights district of San Francisco. Twiga Gallery is the only exclusively African art gallery in the Bay Area and the only art gallery in the U.S. owned by an African woman.
Twiga designs her own one-of-a-kind jewelry, and collects antiques from all over Africa, drawing tourists and the likes of fashionista Dodie Rosenkrans. She also leads a non-profit organization, the Mbinga Children's Organization, to care and education orphans in Tanzania.
