@idowork7000 really? So what constitutes a "jazz song"? "Standards" written for broadway musicals, mainly by guys that HATED jazz music? What Skolnick, The Bad Plus (and hopefully even my trio) prove is that jazz is in the playing - NOT the selection of songs. What makes this great is that Skolnick is making a song jazz...and a whole room of people are engaged and singing along. Something that doesn't happen when you play Misty. Guys like you are why jazz sucks these days.

I think it's great that Skolnick is doing this stuff.Jazz is the most magical form of them all.Apparently,Skolnick agrees with me,or he wouldn't be doing this to begin with.That being said,People are often afraid of new ideas.When Bird and Diz first hit,everyone hated on them too."Skolnick Is A Pioneer".Yes Sir. Alex Skolnick may be the best player ever.....is there anything this dude can't do? Still like Testament more but only 'cause I'm a metalhead at heart. Still though, these guys (not just Alex) are phenomenal.
