Will Russian aggression in Georgia change the way the United States deals with Moscow? Is there a valid comparison between South Ossettia and Kosovo? Can the United States help prevent further aggression between Russia and outlying areas? Spencer Boyer of the Center for American Progress weighs these issues in the latest installment of CAP's ASK THE EXPERT series.

  • LOL

I love it, watch and listen at 3:38 when he states that the US and Europe will not enter into a military conflict with Russia given it has thousands of military nuclear weapons.

NOW YOU MORONS KNOW WHY THE REST OF THE WORLD WANTS NUCLEAR WEAPONS. YES, YOU FUCKING IDIOTS, IT'S TO PREVENT THE US FROM ATTACKING THEM.

  • This is sooo stupid ! What the hell do you expect Russia to do ? Sit and watch how Georgians kill Ossetians ? And who the hell is Bush and Rice ? Rice is just a puppy, Bush has ruined American economy, stuck in Iraq on American tax payers money.

  • @pepsimilk Uhm, theirs always a reason for a war. What is US doing to piss off russia enough to anger them to start a war against US? If anything, the russians were kindly generious to open their routes for Cargo ships to give aid to the US military in Iraq and Afghan, Though I hate the fact that US always gets into every single conflict, I'm with russia for once on this one.

  • Russian Aggresion?

Seriously, how much did they(CIA) pay you from American taxpayers money to spew bullshit in the internet?

  • the US has funded alot of military training and rebuilding the world, and what not, we forget it, because we are cool like that, we could be dicks and ask for the trillions we gave to rebuild and train russia, germany, japan, south korea, etc...

but we arent that way yet, if obama doesnt fix the debt we are in, and since the other countries are complaining of our debt we owe them, just makes me sick, hwo can someone be so ungrateful?

  • Russian aggression in Georgia? WHAT?! Is the US government still pretending it had nothing to do with funding and training the Georgian army?

Russia was in the right here, to back up South Ossetia and stop the slaughter of innocent civilians. Georgian troops were dumb enough to even film themselves shooting up Tskhinvali and leave the NATO and American weapons behind as they fleed in terror once the Russians stepped in.

US has been doing nothing lately but poking the Big Bear with a stick.

  • Russia hasn't allowed itself to be pushed around.. ever.

    I don't understand where you're coming from.

    High school history 101?

  • Great, this is the think tank that will be drawing up Obama's policies, and they basically agree that Georgia's invasion of South Ossetia was the right thing to do, even though many civilians were massacred by Georgia in artillery fire.

Also, the end of the talk is telling: the reason we shouldn't go to war with Russia is because they have thousands of nukes. What if they didn't? Should the US invade Russia? This kind of thinking in the 21st century is insane.

  • Instead of looking aggression in other countries US government better stop aggression against its own people. The financial US crisis is a real act of terrorism of US. US government are the ones who must be persecute. US world leadership is over.

  • what can be done about US aggression in former Russian provinces, rigging elections, supporting vicious dictators, in order to get a few pipelines built on The Grand Chessboard?

That is, what can be done that does not begin with telling the truth about that?

  • The only reason the ethnic cleansing by georgians of ossetians didn't rise to the level of kosovo is that russia intervened. Georgians killed 1500 ossetians in 1 day. Besides in Kosovo there were atrocities committed by albanians against the serbs as well.

  • yes did anyone think why the usa won't attack russsia? we can tell who is a bulley!
