Saw Alan live last night at the Mill Hill Jazz Club. Awesome. His tone, technique, phrasing and improvisation, whether on bebop or ballads, is sheer perfection. He is indeed world-class. Also has a great sense of humour. Definitely a must-see, this character.

I was very priviliged to play bass guitar with Alan Barnes! He is a legend! Even though I'm not a saxophonist I can appreciate how skilled he is!

I saw Alan Barnes for the first time last night, playing with the Dankworth Big Band. What a musician! And Midnight Blue are clearly worth looking out for too. This is an excellent little documentary.
