This is a Tutorial Video on how to beat out many of Akuma's options using Option Select.
On the Player 2 side, I have recorded Ken doing an untechable knockdown (throw), safe empty jump, delayed OS crouch tech, OS EX Tatsu. He is doing the same sequence throughout this video. It may not look like it but he is.
I am on the Player 1 side as Akuma trying many different things on wakeup.

About the Safe Empty Jump....
-its the exact same timing as if you were to do a safe jump but this time you do not stick out any limbs
-Akuma cant AA you as long as you dont stick out any limbs because you will have Trip Guard when you land.

About the Delayed OS Crouch Tech....
-you will block his srk and you can punish hard
-you will block any normals he throws out
-you will tech his throw
-if he does nothing, you start your bnb from cr.lk (AKA OS crouch tech)

About the OS EX Tatsu....
-you will punish his backwards teleport
-you will also punish his forwards teleport because the OS EX Tatsu will autocorrect
-if he blocked or got hit by the previous step then the OS EX Tatsu will instead register as a st.lp and allow you to continue your BNB (bread and butter) combo

so the inputs would be.....
kara throw, then safe empty jump (gives you trip guard), then delayed OS crouch tech (cr.lk+cr.lp), then OS EX Tatsu (QCB+lp+mk+hk)

  • i think i love you. i wasn't sure if it was possible to get an OS low short and still protect yourself from the opponent's throw, but now I know it's possible. You just have to delay it more im assuming?

    haha thanks. yep, if you dont delay it enough then youll eat a reversal, but if you delay it too long then youll get thrown. practice the timing in training room, it might take some getting used to the timing since most of us are used to pressing buttons right when we land.

  • what exactly do u input?

  • @son21387 to option select stand tatsu. If your low short hits or is blocked , you will automatically do stand jab. If low short misses you will ex tatsu.

  • quick question why do you need to input (QCB+lp+mk+hk)

    the light punch for ex tatsu?

  • @dvdragonmaster EX demon flip would win but he'd probably get punished for it. I'm sure he can also backdash.

  • This doesn't beat jump.

  • So could the Akuma beat this with a wakeup Tatsu? It comes out slower than a reversal SRK and it's off the ground to beat throws and cr.LK (and if cr.LK came out it would get Counter Hit).

    Also could you neutral jump or jump backwards out of this situation? (In which case I'm wondering about a possible TK Air Fireball or maybe even they could demon flip on wakeup - wow I've never even thought of that before as an Akuma because it has a slow startup, but yeah cr.LK would probably beat the df)
