This '94 home-movie was created, shot and edited using an old VHS camcorder and a VHS deck. "The Pinball Hunt" was a weekend project of mine (along with friend Trevor) as the search for pinball machines on location began. Some places would not let us videotape so we have a lot of "hard to watch" lower / sneaky shots (remember, this was a BIG VHS camcorder at the time....ha ha).

I was 16-years old when I created this video. So, it is an early production of mine and should be taken as such. And, as usual, I'm definitely corny with it.....(can I say "ladies and gentlemen" anymore?)! Ha ha. I hope you enjoy this first second installment in the Spida1a RETRO series...a quick look back at my crazy childhood experiences.

*and yes....that IS Mario Paint used for the opening and "break time" titles. Ha ha!

  • LOL did you use mario paint for the title screen? :)

  • @lander77477 Ha ha! Yes I did. In fact, if I keep uploading these RETRO things..you'll find Mario Paint as a titler in a LOT of the. Ha ha. Thanks for watching!

  • nice to see this old footage. you're the man!

  • @eyyojung Thanks for watching!

  • right next to Rescue 911 was one of the best Pin Ball games ever, Twilight Zone, suprised you didn't get some footage of playing that game.

  • @aegisofhonor If I remember correctly, the Rescue 911 footage was shot at Tilt, where they said "DO NOT FILM." Notice the horrible angle I got. Plus, I believe the TZ was not working...which is pretty typical as well. :)

    Thanks for watching.

  • So much watching these older videos from you Chris a real "time capsule" for sure my friend.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • Nice vid Chris, this explains something - you are very skillful indeed at Pinball, your technique is superb, natural and displaying a sense of cool and ball awareness that more jumpy players do not possess. This also explains how you can get so far in those tricky PC Engine games you review!!! Skillz bro. Meeery Xmas!

  • Chris is da man! Thanks for taping this cool vintage stuff. In 1989 I bought an RCA CC 310 VHS camcorder. I think it weighed 10 lbs, and was in a carrying case the size of a suitcase. Pretty tough to sneak around. The only vintage on location footage I have is of a beat Terminator 2 at a laundrymat, shot using an 8 mm hi fi camcorder, circa 1998 I think. One of these days it will be on You Tube.

  • i love such "youth retro off-the-cuff" videos.. i have done some by myself in the past and its so great watching them with my friends.. but unfortunately nothing in the context of pinball. so thanks for sharing these private recordings with us "for the sake of pinball" :)

    happy holidays, chris!

    greets from cologne, germany :)

  • Thank you for sharing with us such wonderful videos, Chris :)

  • I see your Tilt location also had a Twilight Zone back then too. So did the tilt near me as well. Hell, they had a for sale sign on the thing forever for like 1,400 bucks or something. The kid working there said it had one small problem blowing a fuse all the time and he tried and couldnt figure out the problem, however he wasnt really a tech though either. I knew even at that time it was a killer deal and should have bought it when I had the chance.

  • @spida1a oh don't get me started on "not working" TZs, there was one locally that had huge mechanical issues for over a year some years back, I'd tell the staff about it and they'd do NOTHING about it. Hugely fun to play when it works, but "when it works" is always an issue. Sadly, I haven't been able to play a real Twilight Zone in over a decade.
