The unreliability of the WEB is no reason for anybody to stay away from Cloud Computing. Cloud Computing will consist of some sort of back up system just like any other type of computing. In fact Cloud Computing in its nature is back up oriented. You are right, networks go down all the time and it is no as reliable as directing running an application on a self sustaining computer. But I recently lost 1 1/2 hours worth of work because my Imac crashed. Goes both ways.

Cloud computing or onlive gaming service- nothing will replace our existing hardware. we might migrate slightly to those craps but still people's primary system will be their home hardware base system. and i agree 100% with jack about this.

What do you do if you're somewhere without internet? I.E. On the road, uo in a cabin, etc.

I love the way you say "Online", rofl.

Big brother is always watching.

I can see what will happen. Instead of selling computers with powerful hardware, companies will sell lightweight computers but also internet subscriptions. That means, to achieve what you can do nowadays on something you just pay once for, you'll have to pay monthly (and that slowly adds up, especially since faster internet = more processing power).
No thanks, I'd prefer the present way :)

I think that regardless if we like Cloud Computing or not, it is going to be part of personal and professional computing in the future. I see it as the next evolution in internet. Skynet is here. :-)

Explain.
He says its always there.
I say its only there if the internet is 100% stone reliable. Its not.
He says its more secure.
I say its a bigger target.
He says they can make you jump through hoops.
I say he is right.
He says youtube is an example of cloud computing, and I disagree.
Not sure what part you mean.

I may not understand the full scope of your comment against cloud computing, DRBUK. But what don't like the most is Apple's attempt to register you in .MAC which is now the re-named Mobile Me. I like what Google and Yahoo are doing to put where we never have to leave their services. In the end, I agree entirely with Dragonballjiujitsu here.
sorry NOT A FAN OF CLOUD COMPUTING, and yes I KNOW ALL THE BENEFITS, ive done a detailed video on cloud computing, and i still dont like it, especially as a PRIMARY COMPUTING SOURCE, as a secondary service, u know to AID ur primary source (computer not internet), then great !
