This is so sad to read, My parents watched American troops, rape the Viet women, bomb villages killing little babies while they slept, torture and mutilate men, women and children. Genetically, we all came from Africa, emigrated to Asia during the Ice Age and our appearances somewhat changed because of the climate. Vietnam War was a civil war between two sides with two political theories. @SPEAKTRUTHALWAYS: YOU'RE WRONG AGAIN. Many forensic evidences have proven that Vietnamese people (the Kinhs) were descendant from Buyei and Thai, NOT Chinese. The Chinese absolutely invaded Vietnam for 1000 years. If you ask 86 millions of Vietnamese people in Vietnam if they want the Chinese script back, the answers is no. In comparison with the West, China has always been our most aggressive enemy and they will never give up the idea of conquering Vietnam again. Good Luck with that idea.

@SPEAKTRUTHALWAYS: Let me tell you something. The Chinese script were forced upon Vietnamese so they tried to break ties by creating a different writing system. Vietnamese is a totally different language anyway.

The alphabet was created by a French religious scholar in order to ease the learning. After the French left, the government kept embracing the alphabet because it was easier to master than those complicated scripts. You're not Viet so shut up. We want nothing to do with China anymore.
