[en] Yvone, Annette, Cécile, Emilie and Marie became globaly known in the 1930's as the Dionne Quintuplets. They were taken away from their parents by the government of Ontario as soom as they were born. They were kept in an exclusive nursery untill they were 9 years old. Meanwhile, they were commercially and financially explored. They raised half a million dollars and they were more visited than the Niagara Falls. Nowadays, unfortunally their history has been forgotten, but I try my best to don't let this happen. Million Dollar Babies is the movie made in 1994 which tells their history.

Obs: If someone wants to help me to subtitle the video I'll be very grateful

  • i would really like to watch this movie again, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THE MOVIE? i live in ontario and had no idea about this historical phenomenon, i did see the movie a long time ago on tv but i would really like to see it again and i will be looking into this topic more because it is so fascinating :)

  • @Smurfetta5683 You can watch the movie here on Youtube. Look for "Million Dollar Babies - The Whole Movie" in my channel or go to this link: watch?v=KQUik-By-uo (it's the link for Part 1). Versions in Spanish and French are also available. =)

  • My grandparents have this movie on DVD I watched it when I went to visit them. The only other time that I saw the movie was when it was on TV but I missed so much of it and was glad to watch it at my grandparents. Did you know that their mother was actually pregnant with six babies but lose one?

  • Yes, I have the movie now. It is an amazing movie, I'm so happy to have it! And it's interesting that they would be sextuplets! If they made such success being quintuplets, just imagine being sextuplets! She would be "Cécile's twin". They are really special people! *-*

  • @NicoleDionne I though the dionnes were all identical ( I think so far the only ever set)

  • @dolphinsweet Yes, they are all identical. But they were identical sextuplets who shared 3 sacs in pairs: Yvonne and Annette, Emilie and Marie, Cécile and the sixth baby Elzire miscarried.

  • @lkrause74 Yep. She died of cancer, another had a seizure and died, then one had a blood clot and died. I'm pretty sure only 2 of them are alive today if I remembered correctly.

  • @Smurfetta5683 Netflix has the movie, I watch it all the time. Great movie!

  • It said in the last part of the movie "million dollar babies -The whole movie" that Yvonne died of cancer in 2001.

  • @PaleBunnyInfidel that does make sense, I mean I get what you mean really sad xx

  • @NicoleDionne I wonder if she had a name for the 6th baby even though they weren't expected (took her by surprise she was having 6 according to the movie) but yea sometimes even in death you name your child :)

  • Pathetic the way they were treated and pathetic that the government and their parents made so much money and kept it. CANADA !! PAY THEM BACK !! Canada is known for supporting immigrants and everybody else, why don't they support their own.

  • @NicoleDionne Doesn't that mean they were each only identical to their 'embryonic sac mate' and not each other?

  • @ShesThe1yup Yeah, except that these girls were not really raised by him, but came back into their lives at age 9. In his mind they didn't feel like his real kids & boy did they sure look like his wife too. Also, in regular physical child abuse it is quite common that the parents only abuse one, or certain children and not all of them. Often the non-abused children stick up for their parents, even though the abused child had suffered horrifically, the family blames the abused.

  • @fangrinmagirl I would think if he abused all 5 of the girls then he probably abused his other daughters too (and maybe even the sons) not wanting to throw accusations but it makes you think that he might have.

  • @NicoleDionne , thanks so much for responding, can't wait to watch it again. the story is so interesting.
