Do you listen to Shawn Lane much? I mean he was inspired by Holdsworth to play the way he did, and he was obviously extremely fast and clean in his playing. I think he did a lot more pentatonic runs at times, but he also did a lot of outside playing as well. You are an amazing player definitely approaching that level of skill. To me, that is about the highest compliment I could give a player. Not sure why people bash Petrucci on here and compare everyone when people play for different reasons.

He does have a transcription but it's 3 miles long because of all the notes
(hehe)

A scallopped fretboard... Nice!!

"Heh...never found it." haha awsome! I like how fun & playful the performance was on this video. It sounds so nerdy to hear Gabel make his comments like, "That is cool man! Nailed that one!" ...but I'm thinking exactly the same.

Marshall,
I was referring to the sequence where your jumping from the lower to the higher frets. I was thinking you were doing an arpeggio. My mistake.
Your accuracy and speed are awesome!
Release a record and Petrucci won't be at the top anymore.

Ignazio DiSalvo, Derryl Gabel, Marshall Harrison, Allan Holdsworth, Magnus Olsson and Bari Parrot are the greatest.
Marshall,
The arpeggio sequence at 3:58 was the coolest playing ever!
Two questions:
1. You and Derryl ever thought about offering lessons?
2. Is stretching easiest on jumbo frets?
CYCLOPSONE 2 years ago
Derryl does offer lessons. He probably doesn't cover what is taught in this video, i'm assuming.
About jumbo frets, YES i've definitely found them to be easier to play on.
Was 3:58 an arp sequence??
