I'm glad to hear Dixie is back in service more or less. She was in the shop when we were there May 22-25 doing a Civil War reenactment.

Dixie is now back, and is being test run to work out the bugs on Weekends. She should be making her first revenue trip on either Father's Day Weekend or July 4th.

Dixie is now out of service having a huge overhaul.

Were you by any chance down in LA around 1988 or so when they had some big anniversary for their train station? There was this HUGE steam engine, the 4404 or something like that (not the 4449, it wasn't streamlined with the orange stuff)I don't remember if that was the one we "chased", but we met one steamer at a couple stops and watched it go around the Tehachapi Loop. It was a trip to see such a huge train up that close.

that would be the Union Pacific 844 I've seen vids of that event but unfortunetly that event pre-dates me by two years so I could not be there lol.

Rode this last weekend, but Dixiana was flying 3rd National Confederate flags. Steam trains have always fascinated me, and these Shays are really cool to watch. Good video; it captured the experience well. It is worth the price of admission to take this ride.
