Along with 'wish me well' this must represent the Blue Nile's finest moments? Pity both tracks are so hard to find now. The former can still be obtained from specialist delaers on Amazon for around £20 as a b-side on one of the two released CD singles for 'Happiness'. Alas, 'Regret' does only exist on the 1984 12" vinyl release of 'Tinseltown'. or as Mark Berry correctly points out, on the album 'the tree and the bird and the fish and the bell', which can still be found at up to £70 per copy.

For those interested in the music...
In the UK the 1984 12" single of “Tinseltown In The Rain” by THE BLUE NILE on Linn Records LKS 2-12 contained two non-album tracks on the B-side – one of which is this – the extraordinarily beautiful and haunting “Regret”.
“Regret” has only made one CD appearance - on a now deleted UK compilation from 1991 on CBS Records called "The Tree And The Bird And The Fish And The Bell – Glasgow Songs By Glasgow Artists". It’s hard to find but worth hunting down.

Apparently collated and posted by a fan of The Blue Nile (sung by Paul Buchanan) who wanted to say something about 9/11 on its 10th Anniversary - the above video uses this beautiful song as a backdrop to images of that tragic event. Recorded years before and 6000 miles away about something entirely different – somehow both musically and lyrically - "Regret" fits perfectly.
More to the point (and I'll openly admit to this) – it moved me to tears.

It was also available on a compilation of songs by artists from Glasgow called 'The Tree And The Bird And The Fish And The Bell'. Worth tracking the album down as there is quite a lot of good stuff on it. Nice visual interpretation of the outstanding song.

@Toyboy789 Hi, saw your comment and no longer have it so can't check but I have a funny feeling it was on the 12" version of Tinsel Town....
Hope this helps - or maybe not - but what a great song from a great band
