  • Apple hardware based servers were slower in those days till they booted IBM for not keeping up with Intel and AMD Now apple software runs on PC wardware. CGI effects are rendered on linux using PC based servers. Apple never got as fast till they opted for PC hardware compatability.

  • @huhjustin This game will probably be around for years, just like RuneScape and all those other "little" or "stupid" games. I agree though, they should have used Unix servers.

  • So why don't you give a technical reason why they should not have picked Windows Server 2008? Or is it just because it is 'in style' these days to be a microsoft hater?

  • Well they chose it for a reason of some sort, to us it might not seem like a good reason BUT they are the ones that made the game and what not so they didn't just guess or flip a coin on it.

  • You want someone executed because they did a mistake for a little game that everyone will forget about in a few years?

grow up kid, get a job and live life.

Don't reply back cause I'm not reading it.

  • Kudos to CCP for all the hard work they put into making EVE Online run and run semi-decently on a second-rate server OS like Windows Server 2008.

Now find whoever made the decision way back in what, 2003? Earlier? Find that person and execute them for one of the worst decisions that could have been made. A clustered server environment running a primarily Python server and he picked MICROSOFT? And HELL, he picked it in like 2003?! WHAT WAS HE THINKING? WAS HE? WAS THE FLIP OF A COIN INVOLVED?
