This is my 1984 Hoover Turbopower. This was the first of the Turbopower series and was launched in 1983 and was still in production as late as about 2001 in Turbopower Junior form. It was the replacement for the popular Junior model which continued to run alongside it until 1988 as a budget upright. It was powered by a 410watt dirty fan motor and was available as the Softbag Turbojunior and The Turbopower Autoflex. A slightly updated range arrived in 1985. The Turbopower took over from the Junior as being the UK's best selling upright in the 1980's.

  • I love the turbopowers and i like the purepower range too I just don't understand why when the purepowers took over hoover shortly after stopped the production of the turbopower.

  • @NumaticVacuum well if you think, in about 1997 when the purepower first came out, the Turbopower was terribly old fashioned. It still had a dirty fan motor and pretty much 0 filtration lol like all big companies, i'm sure hoover wanted to stay competitive and keep up with the likes of Electrolux and Dyson which were just starting to break into the market around that time.

  • Hello, did I buy this one off Ebay??

  • @COLUM72 nope, i've still got this one sitting in front of me in my living room

  • Hello there! I have a model exactly the same as the one you have here and love it, great machine, I left you a comment before I think? Could you tell me where you got your cloth bag for yours? I have looked high and low but with no luck. Thank you so much, I'd appreciate your help. C.

  • @COLUM72 I found them on ebay, they're meant to be for the Purepower but they fit the turbopower fine. Any of the Purepower High-filteration bags are an improvement over the standard Turbopower ones

  • I think a lot of people would agree that the Turbopower was a well deserved successor of a great machine (the Junior).

  • @U5096 hmmm but what about the turbo two and three? they were clean air motors but I guss they still looked a little like the older turbopowers but I suppose hoover wanted to bring out something new and didn't want to vacuum models that practically offerd the same features.

  • I have been trying to find this hoover. It would be great if i could get a decent recording of the U2194's noise, it used to make me fall asleep as a kid, and now as an adult with severe imsomnia, a good recording from this particular hoover could be turned into a sleeping aid for myself and perhaps other people. The quality of this video's sound doesnt carry the bass tone with the white noise so it doesnt have the desired effect i'm looking for. A high quality version might. nudge nudge. lol
