  • a video is not "rumor". video is proof. ive seen the video where he is not respecting the anthem with his hand over his heart. alot of peolpe have. when i first heard him speak i liked him. but now idk. he str8 up lied in this video. there WAS an anthem where he didnt put his hand over his heart. what is this world comming to when you can run for president and dont have to respect the pledge or the anthem? maybe im wrong about this but until someone has an answer Obama is wrong period.

  • I don't know how long you lived in America. But I was raised here, and was taught that it is was customary to hold your hand over your heart for the pledge of allegiance. You only need to stand for the national anthem. Next time you see any sporting event notice the thousands of Americans standing without their hand on their heart.

  • i just go to ask something ok and ppl dont get mad plz but.... he says he went to the say church for 20yrs ok.... dose he really expect us to believe that he never knew for 20 yrs that his pastor was a racist? think about it plz before you respond to it with angry messages..

  • Why do you think he is racist. He never said anything about he didn't like white people or any harm should come to them. He did say some unpatriotic things, but in America you have the right to criticize your own country. Sounds like you've been watching the Fox spin machine too much. You know they have white members in their church too, by the way.

  • reece i believe u might be an intelligent person ok... have u heard the comments his pastor has made? they have him recorded and u can hear the racist things he says.. and yes u are right this is America and you can say what you want but if a white person called the pastor or someone close to him a Ni___ he would be the first one to scream

  • That's true but he never called anyone a honk** or any other derogatory word for white people.

  • it really apalls me how much bullshit I see on here...people DEFENDING this man..REALLY!? I can tell you this man was a senator in IL where Im from..and still to this day no one here or in the US for that matter know where this man came from or how he could have served so LITTLE time in the senate and then become, of all things, PRESIDENT...time to wake the f*** up, sheeple...

  • @GoingConstitutional A lot of what you're saying amounts to arbitrary gestures that carry very little meaning beyond mere appearance. Can not a terrorist from Tehran stand at attention before the American flag, hand placed nearly horizontal at his brow, tears streaming down his cheeks, and yet still hate America with every fiber of his being? Saluting a flag is equally an expression of insecurity as it is one of respect.

btw, Obama is singing in most of the misleading photos.

  • @Ematched This country does not operate under the values and designs of the founders, my nostalgic views of patriotism reflect the intentions and values of the fouding fathers as percieved by the literary works and actions while indentured!

  • @Ematched What are your true values? You would cut off your nose to spite your face if told it was "politically correct" I'm so sick of political correctness! The Pres should salute the flag if you argue that he shouldnt your not only an idiot but a blind one at that! The flag flies at my house 24/7 365.5 days a year and it flies for every person who ever sacrificed themselves for the betterment of a nation! The heros that gave me the ability to freely make that choice deserve to not b forgotten

  • @Ematched The gestures are empty on your part maybe! Alot of us flag waving pin wearing people ACTUALLY do these things to show love and support for our Country and troops!!! You and I may be civilians but the POTUS is the highest ranking military official!!! You and I are not expected to love this Country or to do what is best for it! Who wants a leader that doesn't care about thier Country? The problem is his disdane not the refusal!

  • @GoingConstitutional I'm proud to be a part of a generation that doesn't cling to empty gestures like flag pins, ribbon decals on car bumpers, government mandated etiquette. Where is the heart when part of your reason for doing something is because someone else told a civilian the proper way to show respect? Nowhere. Thankfully, I belong to a generation of true values, not of submission to totalitarian codes of conduct.

Thanks for the history. Wikipedia's is well-lettered in comparison.

  • @Ematched Like I said, we are from different eras! My era chose to respect the flag and every thing it stands for! The SSB was originally a poem penned by F.S.K and later adopted as the national anthem, the musical accompaniment is stolen from a old british drinking song. I believe a President should hold American values and traditions dear, I also believe he should respect the national code and salute the flag! Sorry the CIC is the highgest ranking military official! Should he salute the flag!

  • @GoingConstitutional Your notion of respect sounds more like blind adherence to an ideal that never truly existed, despite a penchant for the distracting influence of nostalgia.

I'm well aware of the story behind "The Star-Spangled Banner," what you call "the National Anthem," as I am aware that the version played at sporting events, political rallies, et al. are only 1/4 of the actual song. I guess they figured not many people are willing to stand up for 3 1/2 minutes a couple times a month.

  • @Ematched I guess you also don't respect the flag too right? I did not write the code of conduct for when the National Anthem is played! I guess I'm from an era where Americans were proud of thier Country! Do you know the story behind the National Anthem? And yes it does make you less of an American to forget and disrespect the very things that have forged this Country!!!!
