Here in Argentina we call that GNC and it's just gas from a gas well, commonly used in taxis because of the low cost. The innovation is the way they create the fuel.

It is improbable cool! Those who speak about low efficiency, forget that taking into account zero influence on environment, efficiency of the offered method will be above, than at other energy sources that we know. Don't forget about expenses of energy for recovery and harm lowering on the ecology, resulted operation of the high-performance manufactures of energy. Here it is an example of when the science goes forward and develops.

@lilo689 you are totally correct. Energy wasting. Insulated Sodium Sulfur Batteries
heated by a heat pump in combination with a wankel range extender or a free piston
linear generator range ex. would make more sense. There are three enterprises which have
put the temperature at 90 ° down.

What a expansive and wasteful practices of energy transmission. Less than 10% of the wind energy produced will be available in the car. The only good thing in the idea is that the car don't use bateries. btw electric engines are efficients, people only don't like it because it don't produces noise, and power feeling.

and what is bmw doing? copying audi in future when its they release it

Haven't looked into the details, but on the surface this fuel-cycle seems sound. And it certainly is much more attractive than current battery technologies.
