@drockkclapton for real!

@MultiSpeckles me too. cleveland public hall, 1975. nitty gritty dirt band opened for them. billy, duty and frank tore it up. almost 40 yrs later, i still remember alot about that show. billy gibbons was a total bad ass back then, but he done lost his mind around 1979 or so.

@devolverful all of billy gibbons riffs are authentic blues riffs, in other words he copied them from his influences, the blues masters of old, and so did SRV....

@devolverful Come on man. How you gonna talk about the first album and not mention Brown Sugar?

Amen brother. When three men take the stage and produce as these guys do, it's like they're throwing down the rock-n-roll gauntlet. Saying " Look what we can do with three guys." It takes some great bands seven people to create bad ass music but they do it with three and do it well........
You all understand how pure this entire album is. It's a freakshow of classic rock riffs. The album before really staked their claim to rock immortality. (and the two before it). Really ZZTop's first album has one gold standard song - Somebody else (been) shakin your tree. That is one fucking bad mutherfucker. That and Certified Blues has been often imitated, rarely duplicated. Stevie Ray, bless his soul, comes close but folks let us face the facts, he copied some of these blues.
