Magoo was the original madman of motocross. It was very sad when he suffered his injury. Ive met him a few times, including the 40th annual Hangtown Classic in Sacramento. Hes always in good spirits, and always enjoyable to talk to. Its good to see him at the races.

I still have the shirt from my first Supercross which was the 1979 Oakland when Jimmy "The Jammer" Weinart beat Bob "Hurricane" Hannah by using a paddle tire, which lead to paddles being banned. Its hard to believe how much Supercross, and racing in general, has changed. Also, how many remember how cool it was seeing Doug "The Wheelie King" Domokos wheelie the intire track? RIP Doug

@143Chippy This was the last AMA Supercross race of 1982. The Yamaha boys were using '83 production equipment. There were a lot of Honda guys running '83 CR250s also. I think this was also Kent Howerton's first ride for Kawasaki.

@mttntts Agree. The early to mid 80's had the best racing ever. Each team had a contender and even though Honda really had the edge with it's works bikes back then, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki were always threats. The riders from that era just didn't give an inch to each other. Hannah said it best. A lot of riders today are sissies.

I remember reading about the coverage of this race in the Feb. '83 issue of Motocross Action Magazine. I've always been a Yamaha boy and Broc has always been my idol. In this same year, Rick Johnson almost won the 250 National title aboard a production YZ250. He became my idol also. Rick won the Tokyo supercross race aboard a production '83 YZ with Broc finishing second.

I think this was 1983, because Glover is riding a 1983 YZ250

The early 80s were by far the best era for pro mx/sx in the U.S. Hannah pretty much dominated in the late 70s, but after he severely broke his leg, things got very interesting. Hansen, Hannah, Chandler, Barnett, Bell, Glover, R.J, Ward, O'mara, Howerton, Bailey, etc, could all win on a given day. After that era, seems one guy would dominate, and the rest fight for second. Not cool...

Love the kawis with the old FIM rear number plate/fenders.
I still have Wrangler Supercross patches in a bag unused.
Anybody want to buy a Broc Glover edition YZ250 cardboard standee of his bike (from 1982), PM me.
Thanks for the posts. All very well said ...
