I think Gervais is just being extremely generous about the american Office, because he's just a nice guy like that. He can't really think it's that great lol. The american version is mediocre at best. Some of the best american comedies imo are shows like Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Curb your enthusiasm, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia.
