Stage III breast cancer survivor Dr. Susan Hardwicke PhD, Founder of HealthAfterChemo.com, speaks on Chemo Brain and Recovery to cancer survivors and oncology nurses at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Blood Cancer Conference in Virginia.
I have always need purpose. I am an INFP. So not recovering quickly has been especially hard on that part of me that needs to know I have a reason for living. It can be hard to find when your body and mind are worn out, and you truly start to believe you have survived for nothing. I suppose depression may be in there a bit, but I am glad I have turned down the offer of meds and tried to get through on prayer and diet and exercise and one day at a time. God has been a real help to me.
Everything is easier when you have a clear sense of purpose, and I know from watching my aunt go through her rounds of chemotherapy, that a sense of purpose helped her.
