It doesn't have to. You can believe what ever you want to. If it bothers you so much that others believe in religion i suggest you go out and talk to people about their beliefs and get to know them. Your belief is just as valid and real as yours is to you.

So you "comfortably" believe. We don't even fully understand the universe, we only know so much about it and considering how vast it is, our take on physics can be completely off in other worlds. There are star systems that shouldn't even exist according to our theories on physics. We claim to understand, but we only know of the world around us. What we know overall is only a mere scratch of what is out there.
