It's probably not intentionnal, but It's funny the way Art Farmer takes a cheerful tune and make it sound very "compassé" -don't know how to translate it- ; but still interesting. That may be some definition of "cool jazz" : concentrated bop. Piano isn't loud enough though.

thanks. this is as good as charlie parkers version. i have not heard any other player do this tune as well.

I like the interlude before the outhead. Does that come from one of Dizzy's famous takes? maybe Salt peanuts?

Very swinging and imaginative solo by Art Farmer. That he was able to express so many surprises within a conventional vocabulary and play with great energy without breaking a sweat is a testimony to his understated mastery
