The best part of the manga is the fact that the mangaka has gotten a lot of the details right! and i like the part that there are no horned helmets!

Canute and all the kings and princes and Leif Ericsson and Thorfinn are all real characters. I think Thorkell was very strong in real life considering his reputation and that he was a commander of the Jomsvikings. Askeladden is a character in norwegian tales who always gets out of trouble by using his cunnig and wits.
Anyone who likes Vinland saga should read the classic novel The Long Ships. Some vinland saga characters adventures with the main character, Thorkell for example.

Yes indeed and it involves so many real characters and features stuff that the real characters actually experienced. Going to read jomsvikingarnas saga now and see if jomsvikings were as scary in the real saga as in vinland saga :D
