A short video in 3 parts about Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes and the infamous riot which broke out in 1913 Paris at the debut of Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring", aka Le Sacre du Printemps - a work so far ahead of its time that it would unlikely be received with anything less than confusion. Added to it, however, would be Vaslav Nijinsky's shocking "anti-ballet" which would one day be the yardstick by which innovation in dance would be measured, however on that day it would be viewed as completely insane and, coupled with music far too advanced for even an educated ear, the whole thing exploded. It would change music and dance forever. - Fatova Mingus. ( This video is a compilation of clips from the BBC's Riot at the Rite and History of the Ballet Russes. I own no rights to these video clips).
