METCHOSIN - 20 year-old Juniar Lucien has been trying to contact her family in Haiti but so far she has been unable to reach them.
Juniar says the situation is very stressful but she is trying to remain positive.
She came to Canada two years ago to study at Pearson College of the Pacific in Metchosin and hasn't seen her family since then. She says the earthquake is like a bad dream.
Juniar's family lives on the outskirts of the Haitian capital, Port Au Prince.
Pearson College's director, David Hawley, is working with the Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) to get information about Juniar's family.
Juniar says her home country is not well equipped to deal with natural disasters and she has concerns about the country's ability to cope in the weeks and months ahead.
