Thank you soooo much for posting your hair regimen. Seeing you do every step with the twists in encouraged me to do the same, it takes time, but my hair is worth it. I will have to look into getting a steamer. You are such an inspiration with your great attitude!

Do you sleep in the twist nightly?
Jesuskee 1 week ago
@Jesuskee Yes. It's very rare if I dont. On an old twist out, I will pineapple my hair by making 5 ponytails (3 going down middle, one on right and one on left). That will stretch out my hair. I will sleep with them in and my hair is not twisted then. That also gives me break from retwisting every night. Make sense?

Im rite there wit u, Ima "Maxxinista" those big Giovanni's are there too, great deal... quick question... what's the purpose of using a sulfate shampoo every 6-8 weeks if u have a non sulfate one? Im on my hair journey too and im in the process of reading "The Science of Black Hair" so im definitely still learning.

@SunkissedQTee Great question! Non sulfate poo's contain mild surfectant cleaners, such as cocomidoprohyl betaine. Conditioner/co-washing would be insufficient (for me). The sulfate poo (clarifying) removes all build up on hair & scalp, including hard water deposits (i have hard water). It gets the hair "squeaky" clean and strips the hair and scalp of everything (silicones too). I refer to it as a deep cleaning. Make sense? In Science of Black Hair, refer to pages 116-118. Hope that helps!

@MissENTF Would you say that the book "The science of black hair" has a lot of new info about black hair? Because I've been wanting to purchase it but I don't want to waste my money on info I could get for free online.

@CrownJewel32 Hey sis! I say it's worth purchasing. Yes, we have the internet at our fingertips, but personally, I don't find anything that beats a single comprehensive resource. You can highlight, bookmark, dog-ear, underline, and constantly refer to info in the book. I understand you can bookmark on-line articles, but, it's easier to refer to 1 single resource of information--the book (IMO). I love it!
