Obfuscation - Swansong

Obfuscation ( initially formed with the name Obscene in 1991 ) was a Finnish Death / Grind band. The released their first demo "Greed" in 1992. The demo was later re-released under the new band name : Obfuscation. Another independently released demo "Windows of the World" was released the following year, in 1993. In 1995, the final work of the band, "Swansongs" EP was recorded and released by E-records.
The band was also featured on "Requiem - Morbid symphonies of death" compilation along with Swedish Fulmination and Obscure Infinity and German Fertilizer.

It almost reminds me of a black metal band at the start, the way the vocals are so distant in the production, and he occasionally has that scratchy screaming thing going throughout, but overall it's a great song.

Well, you know. The deep barnes grunts aren't the only way to sing Death metal lyrics. You could say even Chuck was pretty "Black metal" with his lyrics, if you're going there.

Yeah, I see what you mean. His vocal style just reminds me a lot of early Norwegian Black Metal for some reason. It almost sounds like they purposely downplayed the vocals in the production, because the rest of the song has decent production while you can barely hear the vocals at some points. Like I said it's a great song at any rate. It's nice that you put some of this stuff up here, because there's no way in hell I'd find these records in the USA right now, it's good to hear it.

"Greed" was the first demo I ever ordered back in the day! The 2nd demo is killer material. Never really got into this EP even though I had it for years. Thanks for uploading!

Yeah man, I kind of agree, but at the same time, I don't think death metal has to stick to one style of vocals.

Yeah, I can't even remember where I first heard about them, but I got their first album off of some website written in cyrillic after a few hours of searching.
