Exclusive Interview With Ray Romano (Includes Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher)
By Alan Frutkin of MEDIAWEEK
Don't let the promos fool you. TNT's new series Men of A Certain Age is not a comedy. Rather, it's a light drama. That description comes directly from the show's star, and co-creator, Ray Romano (he of the classic sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond).
Whatever you call it, Men of a Certain Age is further proof of cable network TNT's willingness to continue to explore new ground for original content beyond traditional fare such as The Closer. Of course, whether or not TNT's viewers are willing to watch content other than franchise dramas remains to be seen.
Premiering Monday, Dec. 7 at 10 p.m., the series focuses on three guys who are rapidly approaching middle age. Scott Bakula (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street) round out the headlining cast.
Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin spoke with Romano (and other cast members) about the show's origins, on-screen chemistry, and Romano's return to series production.
