Very sweet rendition of a blues standard. Mayer is one talented dude.

He really is one talented artist there can be no doubt about that. He really makes that guitar speak to you! His voice is great. This is a wonderful post. Thank you.

@VicRoseMusic Check out a vid that I posted recently, called "John Mayer Shows Off Guitar Tricks" or something like that. He talks about all his musical influences.

@ak231510 You can only cover the original..after that ur just covering a cover...lol
Who does John Mayer Sound like when soloing? SRV...BB King...who else? I need to start studying more.

@VicRoseMusic soloing I would say he is more hendrix/srv but he also gets into other styles which are more along the line of bb king and abert king. For those fast raking notes he always does that lead into and out of riffs its srv, for the fragmented riffs with the accents its hendrix. Albert king for the bigs bends and bb for the close repeating riffs, he really has a nice mix of all of those though.Study the penatonic scales

@ak231510 Spot on. I would like to add some Clapton to the mix, especially with tone. I'm probably way off, but oh well! It's great music! Enjoy it!

@srvcrossfiresrv i would say he has clapton's pop/blues fusion down. They are really the only two guitarist I can think of who can make a love song that for all accounts is a pop song, but adds blues elements and accents with extended face melting solos in the middle. In that way his overall song structure is like clapton.

Very nice, but as said, Otis Spann didn't make this song. Though i like Spanns version best!

I no, but go listen to bessy smith and go listen to otis spann and ask yourself which one he is covering. Just like I said, all the people covering hallelujah arnt covering Leonard Cohen, they are covering Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen
