This was a news segment about DC Comics' decision in the mid-90s to change the Man of Steel to the Man of Energy. The folks in Metropolis, Illinois, take their Superman seriously... a little too seriously. I actually was one of those interviewed in the story.

  • "...leave the man of steel the way he is! OK!" lol awesome quote

  • My favorites in the raw video was... let me think how I phrased them....

"I mean, what are his powers? Does he improve cable reception when he flies by?"

"Who is his arch enemy going to be now, The Clapper?"

Man I wish they had used that one.

  • That was a great idea DC.....not!

  • I'll always wonder how long this was meant to last. I can't believe DC expected people to buy this as a permanent change, not by 1997.

  • ker susha

  • I don't think there was a real reason he split, other than his energy powers kept growing and forced the split. I remember that each Superman had different personalities and thought that he was the real Superman.

  • The clapper lol that would have been funny as hell!

  • ok so why were there two of him? Red and Blue...

  • It was really stupid. The way I remember it, it was after the Death and Rebirth of Superman. Because of the whole rebirth process his cellular structure had been altered to where it was containing and processing too much solar energy and he began developing energy-based powers, while his body was becoming unstable. That forced him to put on the 'Power Ranger' suit.

  • I remeber the whole superman red superman blue...i never got it! Why did he change? In the comics that is not realistically.
