Sand Mandala

To devote one's entire attention to the creation of a highly organized beautiful thing is to be very much in control of one's actions. Important also to recognize that the sand mandala is a temporary thing and even though the process of making it takes all of the artist's focus, it is only sand that will disperse in the breeze. Humanity must learn not to think of itself as beyond nature, not even in our greatest works.
But the real benefit is only what you really understand of it.

I adore them for being so patient and passionate in making this beautiful piece of art. Great work..

@pinkygirl1999 Buddhist monks are chill as hell, they would laugh, fix the mess, and go straight back to finishing it.

@1oolabob Would it also be to build character through focusing all this time and energy into something but have it take away from you? To relieve your emotional tie to things that have little value and prevent other people being able to break you through destroying material possessions? That's how I see it in a way, to relieve your dependence on objects or things that are tangible (in this case something you worked very hard to produce) and throwing it away, though this isn't the real meaning.

@vjalonzo Or every once and a while a chinese general and his staff trample the piece of art just before it's done to show their dominance over other cultures, quite interesting indeed.

The monks begin the Mandala sand painting with a ceremony of chants, music and mantra recitation for blessing the site to make it conducive for creating the mandala. Be Cosmic ...

the music creeps me out...
The deconstruction of the mandala is a representation of the impermaness in the world. Where all the sand is collected in a jar and then dispersed in a water stream or thrown in the wind from a mountain or sometimes the sand is distributed to everybody present.
