As much as I like the idea of contemporary musicians paying homage to past blues masters, this cover sounds like an ineffectual folk hootenany with very little of the original charm, humor, and guitar skill of the original. But it was a nice thought...

I love the old version of this song, but for once I don't think White Stripes have nailed it. Willie sounds like his smiling while he's smiling, Jack don't..

This is a nice cover, almost sounds like Blind Willie McTell. Don't hear too many covers of old ragtime music. Great Song

it's all from a robert johnson song where he sings about hot tamales i think. plus a lot of jack whites riffs are also from robert johnson. very good guitarists both of them. i like jack better.

This is a cover of Blind Willie McTells "Southern Can" and it is almost identical to the way Blind Willie did it

I am not really a White Stripes fan but I am a huge Blind Willie Mctell fan and Southern Can Is Mine from 1931 is one of my favorite BWM songs. They did a pretty good job covering this song and I love the Blind Willie and John Lomax chatter at the end.
