As much as I like the idea of contemporary musicians paying homage to past blues masters, this cover sounds like an ineffectual folk hootenany with very little of the original charm, humor, and guitar skill of the original. But it was a nice thought...

it's all from a robert johnson song where he sings about hot tamales i think. plus a lot of jack whites riffs are also from robert johnson. very good guitarists both of them. i like jack better.
I am not really a White Stripes fan but I am a huge Blind Willie Mctell fan and Southern Can Is Mine from 1931 is one of my favorite BWM songs. They did a pretty good job covering this song and I love the Blind Willie and John Lomax chatter at the end.
