"WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! PREGNANT?!?!" Joe caught up with me, wiping the ice cream off his chest. He stopped the door from closing behind me and came inside, slamming the door.
"Yes Joe!" I shouted. "I AM PREGNANT WITH YOUR CHILD!" Saying the words out loud, seemed too unreal.
..::Joes POV::..
The first thoughts of having a child are usually OH MY GOD, WERE HAVING A BABY!! But I have no clue why Im so upset. I sat on my bed and ran my fingers through my hair. "How could this happen?" I said.
"Thats all you can say?! JOE, WE HAD S--"
"No, I know that, but I use protection and you were on the pill." I said quietly, trying to lower our volume.
She plopped on the bed next to me. "That stuff is only 80% accurate. Says so on the box."
"Yeah, but using them both, doesnt that mean its technically 160% accurate?"
"Out of 200%, yes."
I stared at the ceiling for a while. "What are we gunna do?"
She put her hands on her stomach. "I dont know."
"Adoption is always an option."
"Joe, I dont know how to tell you this, but,,,,I sorta wanna keep it."
Those were the words I didnt want to hear. Dont get me wrong, I want to keep my child, its just that were still in college.
"Im up for anything you wanna do." I lied.
She smiled so beautifully I knew immediately that our child would be amazing. "Im really glad, Joe." She kissed my cheek. "And, um, sorry bout the ice cream." She said, running her finger down my chest, picking up some of the ice cream. She put her finger in her mouth and licked it off. "Yum. It totally sucks that it went to waste!" She said.
"Should I take that as a hint to take you to get more?"
She smiled wider. "Yes, and this time with chocolate turtles. OH! And pretzels!"
I laughed and got up.
"You think they could put pickles on it?"
"I see those cravings are kicking in!"
She giggled then hiccupped at the end. "Oops." She covered her mouth.
"Its okay."
..::Kevins POV::..
"SHE IS NOT!" I shouted. Joe had just called me, him and Maria so excited because she was pregnant.
"Yep! I am!" I heard her voice say. I could just imagine her patting her stomach. That should be my baby.
"Well, uh, CONGRADULATIONS!!!" I said awkwardly.
"Thank you!!" Joe said. I could tell by the way in his voice that he was smiling.
I put my phone down and put it on speaker. "HEY NICK! GUESS WHAT!!"
"What?" Nick said, walking in with Gabby and sitting on the couch.
"Tell em, guys." I said into the phone.
"WERE HAVING A BABY!" They both said at the same time. I looked over at Nick and Gabby. Both of their mouths were wide open, eyes bulging.
"OH MY GOD!!!" Gabby shouted and jumped up. "MARIA!!! I AM SO COMING DOWN THERE!!!!"
Gabby jumped at the chance to talk to Maria some more, but I decided to go upstairs. I hated this. Nick must have known, because he followed me.
"You like Maria, dont you?"
"WHAT?! No! Thats CRAZY!"
Nick gave me a look. "I can see it in your eyes. Your hurt that shes pregnant, and having Joes baby."
"Nick, youve officially gone insane."
"Me?" He followed me into my room. "Youre the one thats in denial!"
"Denial?!"
"Denial. Face it. You love Maria. Youre kicking yourself in the ass that you didnt take a chance and date her. Youre dead inside that shes not having your baby." I knew Nick was right, but I cant just admit it. "Kevin, you cant have her, no matter how much you want her, you cant. Shes Joes and theyre having a baby now, and most likely going to get married soon enough."
"CAN YOU JUST PLEASE SHUT UP!?!?! I GET IT!!! I CANT HAVE MARIA! SHES WITH JOE AND HAVING HIS BABY!!!!"
My face turned beet red and I felt it getting all hot.
"Kev, youll find a girl."
"But I cant just have ANY girl. I need Maria."
"Well Im sorry Kevin. Its over."
And thats the last thing I remember before crying so hard, I almost threw up.
