Anita O'Day sings Early Autumn, written by Ralph Burns - John Herndon "Johnny" Mercer. With Marty Paich's orchestra. Recorded April 3, 1958, at Radio Recorders, Hollywood. Original LP issue: Sings The Winners, Verve MGVS 6002; on CD: 837 939-2. One of my all time favorites. A musical masterpiece. Enjoy.

  • Thank you for your kind words. The real talent here, is that of Johnny Mercer, who captured the essence of the season with words and music. Anita O'Day further captures the melancholy of Autumn with her unique voice and style, on this song about a love's fire turned to embers.

  • This is my favorite kind of Anita sound, I love this song so much <3

  • Years ago, I used to listen to this song on the bus in the winter time on my way to work. I love her voice and this song

  • The word that comes to mind listening to and watching this video is sublime. There is no doubt that when it comes to naming the greatest jazz singers of all-time that Anita O' Day definitely belongs in the company of such greats as Ella Fitzgerald,Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan, and the video images are a perfect fit for the classic song. Great work!
