Yes, you have to TALK TALK TALK to your timneh AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. They love the attention and pretty soon they want to join in. Treat your bird just like a child, asking lots of questions, naming lots of foods, objects, activities. Avoid whistling, it's too easy for them. When my birds whistle I ignore it, or respond by talking to them.
