Hi everyone! I'm testing out a new camera and enjoying a warm January day! Sorry if I seem a bit distracted, the cat in the vid was going around my legs in circles and driving me crazy!
I would love to hear about any short season heirloom corn that you've found to do well. Thanks!

  • Video looks good, but there is a black mask around the picture. Not a big issue, but it does reduce the viewable area.

  • @qhack Yes thanks I figured out why that was happening. The setting needed to be changed from what worked on my old camera.

  • Don't you love thinking about the garden and planning what you are going to do. I can't wait any longer. I'm starting my seedling today in my new grow box that I bought on Craig's List for $50.00. I will be posting a video on that soon. I hope you check it out. I also miss your husband's videos. I wish he would start again soon.

  • @lauriegirl2 Yup between planning the garden and crafts it gets me through the winter! Can't wait to see your vid! :)

  • Hey girl! Thanks for inspiring me once again. Found an old vintage wooden ladder that I saved from the trash man. Now finding baskets from thrift to line its rungs-will be a vertical herb garden. Herbs are great medicine-use them dried in the winter...no flu or colds yet. Had bad luck with corn. We, stick to tomatoes, peppers, beans, herbs, lettuce, berries, squash and potatoes. See if your local grower will give you damaged/seconds produce for reduced price or free-able to do it here.

  • @skeletonmom Hey that ladder will make a great herb stand! I love herbs to, as sick as I have been this fall/winter I would have been worse with out them. The weather cold/hot, wet/dry yo-yo hasn't helped.

  • I grew True Gold, it is a sweet open pollination heirloom, kept lots of seed, can send you some if you want to try it.

  • I understand about being anxious for next year's gardening. My mom is going to be buying me a greenhouse and I am just itching when I look at seed catologs! But, I'm glad for the seasons because God wants us to have a little break I think. :)

  • Camera is great your weather is brrrrr.

  • I see what you ment about being anxious for Spring like I am ;).

( oh I'm Jihadacadien btw lol)

  • @HomesteadAcres - ...yeah...whats up with that??? Virginia gets snow, but we in Pennsylvania have 50 degree temps? Weird....

  • @HomesteadAcres That is awesome!

  • @HomesteadAcres hhhmmmm : ) How about a salsa recipe from scratch? Also really

curious if you've ever heard can you do eggs in a pressure canner? I

imagine hard-boiled with shells off would make it possible. I got a

pressure canner for Christmas and I can't wait to explore all the

possibilites. Thanks!!! Love your cooking videos too!

  • I have not done much corn yet. i bought some for this year but not sure im going to be able to use it. my plans this year are to make salsa and tomato sauce. so i got a couple varieties of paste tomato to try, i have new ways i am going to plant and i am not going to forget putting in some extra things like cow manure and compost. i didn't put much in last year and it was not a big year on anything, everything was small. I can't wait to start. oh and learning to do canning. ;)
