Count me as being one of those who appreciate the work that Al has been able to do. It transcends genres, and generations.
He really comes through on this tune. For me, this should've easily been a radio hit. I guess Al was a little too independent minded for the suits and many colleagues. A shame, really.
I knew that a number of his solo albums have been reissued on CD (I have I STAND ALONE). Yet YouTube proves to be the best place to sample most of them before deciding to buy one.

IMO Al's issue was that he knew he was great but he failed in convincing those around him. His fans not just like him, they LOVE him. Like many geniuses he can be nearly impossible to work with, but rather than get out of his way, managers, sidemen, and label guys clashed with him
All that deprived us of a lot more product from Al

I have always loved Al Kooper. He's quirky and original and capable of all kinds of surprises. This song is a bit dated but I still like hearing it...

I think almost every one of his solo albums had some strings on it. This song is a masterpiece.
Al doesn't have a problem...the record companys did
