On October 27th 2010 Michael Niesse and myself (Skip Blankley) made the hike up Huayna Picchu (Wayna Picchu) after touring Machu Picchu that morning. The weather was amazing event though October is the beginning of their rainy season. The altitude really does take its toll. You find yourself having to stop to catch your breath every 20 ft or so.
The hike took about an hour but was worth every step! If you ever make the trip to Machu Picchu please do yourself a favor and make this hike! Machu Picchu is beautiful but the view from Huayna Picchu is beyond description. Also want to thank our good friends Jonathan and Mariana Gudger for deciding to get married in Peru and dragging our asses out of the country for one of the most amazing trips i have ever been on. Also, congrats to Matt Bouchane and Nicole Burns who were engaged that morning at Machu Picchu!

music is by incubus "black heart inertia"
i chose this song because i had my iphone set to shuffle when we were taking the bus up to Machu Picchu and it played this song just before we arrived. thought the lyrical content was very fitting for the day i had ahead of me.
