This video examines the hypocrisy of drug prohibition. The properties, risks, benefits, and legal status of alcohol, prescription and over-the-counter medicines, and hemp are compared and contrasted.

Additional facts on hemp:

Hemp Is The Planets #1 Natural, Renewable Source Of Textiles, Paper, Fuels, Protein, Non-Toxic Medicines, And Gentle Intoxicants.

• Hemp was civilizations first woven fabric (around 8000 B.C.). Christopher Columbuss sails and ropes were made from hemp. The first American flag was made from hemp. The first Levis jeans were made from hemp. Hemp fibers are softer, warmer, more absorbent, and three times stronger than cotton. Hemp needs no pesticides or herbicides for lush growth.

• Every acre of hemp grown for paper or particle board saves four acres of trees. Hemp paper is more recyclable than tree paper. The first Gutenberg Bible was printed on hemp paper.

• Oil pressed from hemp seeds can power standard diesel engines, while reducing sulfur and carbon monoxide emissions. Hemp stalks are the best biomass (vegetation stock) on the planet and can be processed into gasoline-like fuels. Biomass crops absorb carbon dioxide emitted by cars, mitigating the greenhouse effect.

• Edible hemp seeds are the most complete source of vegetable protein available. Hemp seed oil is lower in saturated fat and higher in essential fatty acids than any other vegetable or seed oil.

• Hemp is a pain-reliever and an effective treatment for anorexia, arthritis, asthma, epilepsy, glaucoma, menstrual cramps, migraines, nausea, and other ailments. Hemp is a safer substitute for many over-the-counter and prescription medicines. The human brain is designed with receptors for hemps active ingredient, THC.

• No one has ever died from medical or recreational hemp consumption. In contrast, alcohol and tobacco kill 150,000 and 350,000 Americans each year, respectively. Moderate use of hemp can relax you while promoting a heightened awareness and a healthy appetite, thus helping to protect against stress-related illnesses.

• Polls taken at the time President Clinton admitted to experimenting with hemp indicate that 50% of the adults under age 45 have tried it. Many continue, simply because they find it a pleasant and non-threatening experience.

• The only crime most hemp users commit is that they use hemp. Hemp does not promote violence or change the individuals basic personality. Independent government-sponsored studies favorable to re-legalization are consistently suppressed, while unscientific scare reports are widely publicized.

• Government substituted the then-obscure word marijuana for hemp during debates in 1937, thus hiding the fact that an important crop was being outlawed.

• Hemp prohibition today is big business. However, legal hemp would be even bigger business, without the side effects of violence and repression.

  • I would like to thank you for the lively debate.

    One last point.

I am a colledge educated profession, I have a full time job and make a very good salary. I would imagine you are pretty much the same.

You can come home after a ahrd day and crack open a cold, but I can't light up a joint. What is wrong with this picture?

A "morally based law" says it wrong to use marijuana. Does this not seem hypocritcal?

This is the entire point of this video.

Thank you again for the discource.

  • Dunno why I feel the need to add this, but I'm actually a Junior in high school...

  • Hey, we all have to start some place. Did you learn anything?

  • In "my" opinion, all laws which prohibit the individual's freedom (sounds kinda like the constitution?) of free choice are unefforcible and there fore useless. The cost to try and enforce is a waste.

It is now the individual's "responsibilty" to use those choices wisely and accept the consequences of those choices.

To blame a criminal act because the individual was "under the influence," is irrelevant. The courts will decide if his actions were illegal based on law, not moral judgement.

  • Who the fuck are they to decide what substance We can use or not? Especially if it is a dumb ass hypocrite prohibitionist. Most so called recreational drugs have some health benefits . The government is so conserned with our health so they ban these substances and throw "Offenders" behind bars. Would you explain please WHY THE FUCK!! the most addictive and dangerous recreational drug that KILLS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DAILY is legal?Im talking about tobacco. What sort of idiocy is this?

  • Well done ! :)

  • @clairishe Can you provide more information on the is new test?

  • @heyyou1965 They already have tests that can determine the ratio of THC metabolites in your blood to determine when marijuana was last used.

  • @heyyou1965 Legalize the safest most non Toxic plant on earth!!!

  • law is for the governed people, not all the people.

  • (contd)

is the medicinal form of marijuana, and contains 100% THC. I find it funny how the same people who are talking about how dangerous potent marijuana is are the same ones giving the purest form on the market, legal or not.

  • One thing that you seem to ignore, or simply not know, is that the potency of THC in a marijuana plant, plain and simple, doesn't matter. The University of Mississippi, the University which monitors average marijuana potency for the past 3 decades, has said that marijuana today (2009, so not exactly today, but you get the picture) is at about 5% THC. In Washington D.C. and Maryland, two areas were marijuana is legal for medicinal purposes, a medical patient can get a drug called "Marinol", which

  • Is it possible to get high of other ingredients in marijuana aside from THC? I ask because I used a vaporizer a while back and I BARELY felt anything, even my appetite wasn't changed that much at all

  • We were trying to get away from those videos that have loud music and quick-cut scenes of bongs and pot plants. We wanted this to be a serious video regarding the facts of pot use.
