Adelaide produced some classic rock bands in the mid 60's. The Masters Apprentices, The Twilights, The Vibrants, and of course The James Taylor Move. This track is the 'B' side of their first release 'And I heard the fire sing'.(or was it the 'A' side?) anyhow, Magic Eyes did very well in Melbourne back in 67'.

  • James Taylor wasn't even heard of in sept.67.

  • @wellsy1954 I am not with you, The James Taylor move formed in Adelaide in early 1967 according to Wikipedia and that's the way I remember it as well, perhaps you are thinking of the American folksinger.

  • alan tarney - bottom left.

  • @alexeisvensayle Thanks for the update, Google explained it all for me, cheers

  • Great memories. Everyone in town (Adelaide) was talking about these guys at the time. Song still sounds terrific. A successful recording career seemed assured but like a lot of talented Aussie bands they went nowhere. Funny choice of name, maybe a marketing ploy to confuse them with James Taylor the American folk singer?

  • @5micky2 The James Taylor Move grabbed my attention from first listen back in 67', along with the other great bands in Melbourne, The Loved Ones, Twilights, Masters Apprentices etc it was a great time for music lovers like me.

  • Breatherable-I was referring to the comment by 5micky2.There was NO confusion with James Taylor-he had not been heard of as he wasn't signed to APPLE until1968.The James Taylor Move's singer was Rob Taylor. The 3 other members had great success in the U.K. and U.S.A. Kevin Peek in Sky and Alan Tarney and Trevor Spencer as songwriters/producers and their bandTarney Spencer.

  • That's a fantastically tight song, awesome! I'm loving these guys!

  • the wonderful genius kevin peek on guitar!
