Here is T Gauge. It is the worlds smallest commercially available train set in 2009. I decided to add it to my T-TRAK layout as a ride on, but putting the extra coach behind hindered it too much. So I ran it 'light engine' and it ran well. Behind is my son, so you can see the miniature size. 2 N scale loco's pass and you can then see how small these items actually are! 1:450 scale! My son is 8 years old, and he knows quite a bit about the T gauge and loves it.

  • After I took one apart for repairs, I had a good look at it. The motor is a fast motor to start with, and it only goes through 1 gear before the actual wheels. Most trains have at least 3 gears that slow the speed to a proper one. Unfortunately, these motors do not like low voltages, so you basically have to run them from half to full volts. After all, they do use 4.5v!

Would be good if they could run nice and slow!

  • so t gauge is smaller than z gauge?I never knew that.

  • Yes. Z gauge is 1:220. T Gauge is 1:450. So T gauge is basically half the size of Z scale. The tracks are only 3mm wide, and it is hard to even put them on the track!

  • This is interesting, but I wonder why them "things" always go so fast..I have watched several of them and I would like to think that 'scale" is the issue here. Imagine a "person, in scale" traveling in such a vehicle at such the speed, as they show..this person would be glued to the "wall" and throw htier collective cookies because of centrifugal force...

  • i have a northfolfsouthern train

  • holy crap 3mm!! I have a hard enough time with n scale.
