@CrazySicily "at first" is the biggest key inside. But even when he was psyco, half the people dealing with him just told him to quit fooling around. Addibessi would have owned him same as he did other weak, black inmates.

Clayton was a riot. He never had "it" to show authority to these guys. If he was a con instead of a CO (which he later did become, but was protected) he would have been a prage before his first meal.

@NephilimRomance I've heard the key is to be fair but firm. There are the few % of inmates that are animals in a cage and get treated as such. I went on a bid-tour of a prison and the co's said they were required to show us that part but said "it looks just like this part." They strongly implied not to go there to sightsee.

My old man worked as a prison guard in Solidad for a long time, he always said the key is treating the inmates with respect, like men and not animals in a cage. That's how you last in that line of work for years.
