The Yearly Harp Seal Slaughter

Every year, the Canadian government allows hundreds of thousands of harp seals to be slaughtered by fishermen and hunters, so that they can skin these animals and sell their hides to make hats and coats and even baby booties for wealthy Americans. Not only is this practice incredibly gruesome, but in about half the cases, these animals are actually skinned alive. Mike Papantonio discusses the ongoing fight to end this yearly slaughter with Gail DiDonato , an activist from upstate New York.

And the only folks who really make a decent living supporting the seal hunt are politicians from Atlantic Canada. That's why East coast ministers, MPs and senators from all four political parties in Parliament are far more fanatical about killing seals than are most sealers themselves.

Yeah and the reason they want the fur from our wildlife is because animals that have fur on those continents have all been consumed and run off and driven to extinction. There are no more and someday soon there will be no more here. Europe has needed to import fur for centuries. The Amer/Can fur trade goes before the colonies. We have to chose fur garments to a thriving wildlife. Apparently Europe has made the choice and now it is making it for us.
