A cover of Owl City's "The Tip Of The Iceberg" by Room 253. View the annotations for an explanation of what you see.

All sampling, synthesis, programming, recording, editing and production done using Logic Pro 9. Pitch correction on the vocals was done with Antares Autotune EVO. Guitar was performed on a Fender Telecaster and captured from a Blackstar HT-5.

This project uses Logic's Flex feature and Antares EVO extensively to achieve the effects heard. Effects such as side chain compressed reverb, ring modulation, low-pass filtering and a variety of delays are used. These effects are controlled using automation.

  • I looked at the finalists... and was shocked that you weren't among them. I know how hard it is to duplicate just one synthesizer, let alone put together an entire cover as well as you did. (I've seen other attempts, but they're simply not as good.) It takes so much work to put something like this together, so even though you didn't officially make it in, you're in the honorable mentions in my book. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us! I look forward to seeing what you have in store!

  • @bjs1990peregrine I think I got it in too late. Not too fussed, I got me an iPad anyway hehe :)

  • I have a feeling i should probably know this, but what does recording the guitar "antiphonally" entail? Great cover btw!

  • @sayhitom I can't think of how to explain it...

It just means there's no gap in the whole phrase because all the chords sound directly after the last.

  • So does owl city use logic or reason?

  • @Iceboy575655 Reason. Then into Pro Tools with Rewire.

  • I may have commented already but I constantly come back and watch this video. I'm just starting to mess around with electronic music production so this video is really interesting for me. Good job again!

  • :O

  • Wow realy enjoyed it! What software/mic do you use?

  • how do you do the drums ?

  • hey man, awesome cover....I have a question....how do you get that electronic wind sound at like 3:03-3:07. It kinda builds up, peaks and comes down. I've been trying to do this and I can't figure out what it is. Thanks.

  • That was total awesomesauce.
